Bicycle helmet : Nature & Form

The course 'Nature & Form' needed us to study an animal, and design a product inspired by it. For the documentation please refer to the link:
The Moose was my inspiration.

The process we followed was :
Studying the animal and making sketches.
Abstracting the sketches.
Choosing a product, in my case I chose a helmet.
Iterations for the helmet.
Thermocol models of the iterations.
A final design and model.
The first set of abstractions, using lines and contours.
Abstractions using silhouettes and contrast.
The final abstraction uses Gestalt laws, strong lines and edges and superimposes the antlers on the body.
Iterations for the design of the helmet.
A few thermocol iterations I made while developing my design.
The final design for the helmet, made out of thermocol with a layer of Putty to give it a finish. Unfortunately the model was too fragile to paint.
A render of the helmet, showing final colour and finish.
